Osaka is Japan’s second largest city and is best known for its food and nightlife. Make sure to sample its signature dish, takoyaki (octopus balls), and take in the neon and animated signs of Dotonbori.
Located only 30 minutes by express train (or 15 minutes by bullet train) from Kyoto, many people combine these two cities, staying in one and taking day trips to the other. We opted to stay in both, bookending our trip to Hiroshima with our stays in Osaka and Kyoto. And we were glad we did. We were surprised by how much we enjoyed our time there.
