The Knot Hiroshima

I don’t even remember how I stumbled across The Knot Hiroshima but it was the first hotel I booked and I was so excited about it. The reviews were great and the pictures looked amazing. I booked directly on their website instead of through a third-party booking site and the confirmation email in all Japanese made the trip feel real for the first time. I could not wait for our stay.

With so much build up in my mind, I was preparing myself for it to end up being somewhat of a let down. It was not. This was hands down our favorite hotel of the trip and I was so glad that we ended up extending for a day when we decided to shift our Miyajima visit to a day trip. I would have happily stayed there for many more days.

The location was fabulous. Not only was the Peace Park just 5 minutes away but we had an amazing view of it both from our room and from the rooftop bar. It was also a very convenient less than 10 minute walk to catch the World Heritage Sea Route ferry to Miyajima. Although we admittedly didn’t get to venture to other parts of Hiroshima, I can’t imagine a better place to stay in the city. The proximity to the Peace Park was ideal and it was only a minute away from Chuden-mae tram station, which connects you to Hiroshima Station and basically anywhere in the city.

The hotel has the feel of a boutique hotel, with a chic and modern aesthetic. The lobby is really unique in that it is on the top floor. It is a brilliant introduction to the hotel and its stunning city views. There are free welcome drinks offered at the bar and the outdoor terrace has amazing views of the city and surrounding mountains. We were treated to a beautiful sunset and a surprise fireworks show.

The room was spacious by Japanese standards and this was the only hotel where we had a true king sized bed. There was a settee in the window where we could sit and enjoy the views of the city and Peace Park. It had a split bathroom, with the toilet and shower in separate rooms.

As with all our hotels, we booked a rate that included breakfast in the first floor restaurant, MORETHAN. The Italian restaurant was open for breakfast, lunch and dinner and we took advantage of its convenience and amazing food. The breakfast was by far the best we had anywhere and the dinner was fantastic as well. While the restaurants at all of the other hotels were good but not great, this one was a standout that only added to a wonderful experience at the hotel.

I would love to return to Hiroshima and The Knot and would recommend it to anyone. The location and views are amazing. The hotel is beautiful. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. And the restaurant is fantastic.
