Montreal is like a little piece of Europe right here in North America. An island city located along the St. Lawrence River, its French roots are especially evident in Old Montreal, where cobblestone streets, pretty squares, and old-world architecture transport you to another place and time. We snuck away to Montreal on an adults-only adventure to celebrate our upcoming 20th anniversary, but the city is really family-friendly and would be an easy international trip for those seeking a taste of European charm without the long flights and high expense of actually going to Europe.
